Yesterday during a Television Critics Association panel for the new season of American Horror Story, Sarah Paulson told reporters that Oceans 8 goes back next week for additional shooting, /Film is reporting.
“I am actually going to do some more of that next week, they decided to add more things. It was extraordinary to look around the room and see Cate Blanchett, whom I’ve worked with twice now, and Sandra Bullock and Rihanna and Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Awkwafina. It felt like a really empowering place to be and really fun. We have a text chain going that’s one of the most epic things. If my phone were stolen, it would be… I’m sure I’m just inviting everyone to hack my phone now.”
Gary Ross directs the script by Ross and Olivia Milch. Matt Damon is expected to appear in a cameo, providing more connection to the Ocean’s trilogy, and a Clooney cameo has not been ruled out.
Ocean’s Eight is due in theaters June 8, 2018.
Warner Bros and Village Roadshow have released the first image of its upcoming female-driven caper film Ocean’s 8.
In Summer 2018, the tide will turn as (left to right) Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect crew: Lou (Cate Blanchett); Nine Ball (Rihanna); Amita (Mindy Kaling); Constance (Awkwafina); Rose (Helena Bonham Carter); Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway); and Tammy (Sarah Paulson).
Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit) is directing from a script he wrote with Olivia Milch. Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik produce. Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Bullock, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman exec produce and Milch co-produces.
Ocean’s 8 will be released in the U.S. on June 8, 2018.

Warner Bros. has set a June 8, 2018, release date for “Ocean’s Eight,” the all-female spinoff of “Ocean’s Eleven,” according to a THR report.
The spinoff stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. The Hunger Games’ Gary Ross will direct, and Steven Soderbergh – which directed Ocean’s Eleven – will produce.
Earlier reports says Bullock’s character will be the leader of a group of thieves and cons who try to pull off a major heist. Production is held to start this month in New York.
Anne was interviewed by MTV’s Josh Horowitz during TIFF, and during the interview he asked if she prefers to sing Rihanna or Beyoncé songs in the shower. Anne didn’t bat an eyelash before answering:
“Why choose?! We live in a world where we don’t have to!”
If Hathaway had to play favorites, though, it’s safe to say she’d go with RiRi thanks to their upcoming film together. While dishing about Colossal — her new sci-fi thriller in which she’s psychically connected to a giant, city-demolishing beast — she mentioned that she’s happy about reconnecting with Ri on the set of Ocean’s 8.
“It’s a great opportunity to spend more time with her,” she said of Ri. “We got along really well when I hosted SNL and she was the musical guest. I’m looking forward to seeing her again.”
Ocean’s 8 is firming up its cast, but in addition to Annie and Ri, it’s got some serious talent on its all-female roster with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, and Awkwafina were all in final talks for casting. Hurry up and nail down those details, production, ’cause we need this to get filming fast.
Warner Bros has firmed an October start date in New York for Ocean’s Eight, the female-driven caper spinoff directed by Gary Ross, and the studio is closing with its principal cast. Aside from the previously identified Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett, deals are close with Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. The latter is the hip-hop moniker of Asian-American rapper and actress Nora Lum, who most recently had a role in Neighbors 2.
The picture is still casting — the firmed roster so far falls one shy of the title — and there is every possibility for cameos from the stars of the original trilogy, which grossed a collective $1.12 billion worldwide. Village Roadshow Pictures is co-financing and co-producing with Warner Bros.
The film will be produced by Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh, and Ross wrote the script with Olivia Milch. Ross and Soderbergh are longtime informal collaborators, serving as second unit director on each other’s films and as sounding board on scripts and projects.
